Having created a pitch with slalom poles, cones and 12ft plastic goals, the game commenced with Jack Packman in the middle Refereeing.
Starting with 10 men, Thanet managed to keep the ball out of our goal for 20 minutes before a comical mistake by Shaun and Mike (facing each other having to clear the ball from the 6yrd line!) 9G Design took the lead with a powerful right footed strike (Doh!).
Our 11th man turned up (Cheers Craig) and we managed to turn the pressure back on 9G. A great cross in from John Hodder was met with a fantastic header from Jay Brown and it was 1-1, phew.
Keeping the pressure on we had a few more shots that could have been put away, Lovey having a one-on-one with the keeper but with a small goal and the keeper running out, he managed to place it just wide.
Eventually Jay managed to break down the 9G defence and put another great shot into the goal, 2-1.
Half time arrived, time for a pep-talk and some liquids (Hot day!)
The second half was different, Thanet's defence were under much more pressure but we managed to apply our own on the counter-attack, with John Hodder hitting the post and both Lovey and Jay screaming shots just over.
The game ended, we'd won, thankfully.
Considering that the pitch was aweful (no markings, very long grass in the center and goal areas) and considering both teams were aiming at a smaller goal than usual, it wasn't too bad.
Good job lads, the 'real' friendlies start next week at Pfizers, on a real pitch with real goals! lol
